Looking For Alaska by John Green
The 10 year anniversery of this book just passed last month, but that doesn’t stop it from still being an all-time favorite in YA circles.
So what did you think?
This book has been critisized for endorsing the ‘manic pixie dream girl’. Do you agree or disagree? What is your opinion of the MPDG idea overall?
Do you think Alaska wanted to end her own life, or was it an accident (or does it not even matter)?
I think a great alternative title for this book could be “Young People Doing Bad Things”, which isn’t neccessarily a complaint. Is the sex/smoking/alcohol being portrayed as cool a negative for you, or just realistic?
(Feel free to just talk about how much you loved the book, if you want. As with all posts on this site, I’ll be replying to anyone who wants to discuss!)
